Increasing the use of energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions
‘Smart energy management in remote Northern, Peripheral and Arctic regions’ (SMARCTIC) helps public governing bodies to increase the use of energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions in housing and public infrastructures in remote, sparsely populated areas.
Affordable, reliable and efficient supply and usage of energy resources.
Our approach is to focus on a set of public buildings within a community, to minimise overall energy usage, optimise efficiency and increase community engagement. Smart sensors, Internet of Things (IoT) technology, machine learning and artificial intelligence are all components factored into the main output implementing this approach, which is an ICT-based solution called the Smart Energy Management Model (SEMM).
Smart Energy Management Model (SEMM)
The ICT-based solution SEMM is adapted from existing smart city models and is adaptable for deployment in a typical NPA community. SMARCTIC uses SEMM to facilitate innovative energy-saving pilots within NPA regions.
We facilitate innovative energy-saving pilots with governing bodies
SMARCTIC has implemented energy-saving pilots in 5 NPA regions, enhancing their capacity to deliver high-quality energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions in their communities.
Join the SMARCTIC network and implement a pilot
Our network partners put together a range of ICTs from different NPA regions. We transfer and integrate pilots, models and user requirements to achieve a robust transboundary solution. Be part of the SMARCTIC network and implement a pilot.
